Business Continuity Tip of the Month

Project or process?

Well, both really.

Whilst it’s is essential to manage the business continuity implementation project as you would manage any other significant project, there are elements of business continuity management which must ultimately become ongoing processes and become ingrained in people’s day to day activities.

Examples include backups and offsite tape movements, plan reviews and updates, exercising and testing, to name but a few – these should all be seen to be part of people’s normal jobs and not an afterthought. And if you can get these activities into their job specifications and objectives, so that they form part of the appraisal and bonus system, people will have a vested interest in making sure they actually do them!
